Godalming-based data centre provider Aegis Data has announced that it is the new sponsor of Camberley Town Football Club Youth Squad. The partnership will ensure the club continues accessing the best facilities, coaching, and equipment, and the sponsorship has already resulted in a new kit for the team.
Camberley Town Youth Squad provides a direct path for any local young footballers looking to get into football at a higher level. It relies on volunteers, and provides its youth team with qualified coaches, training facilities, kit, and other necessities. Barrie Funnell, Youth Liaison Officer at Camberley Town Youth Squad, commented on the benefits of the sponsorship for the squad:
“We look to give our youth squad a sense of professionalism, so that they can feel invested in the team, the sport, in everything that they accomplish together. This sponsorship has already given us our first new kit in three years, which has made everyone feel proud of playing for the side and has got a few compliments as well. The sponsorship also ensures we can continue to provide our players with everything they need to develop their skills as individuals and as a team.”
Greg McCulloch, CEO of Aegis Data, commented on what it meant for the company to be sponsoring the team:
“Sport is really important for helping young people to develop confidence, leadership, and a sense of team work and fair play. We see that spirit in the Camberley Town Youth Squad, and as a proudly Surrey-based company we’re keen to contribute to its continued success, and to provide some resources to an institution that is a treasured part of the local community.”
Barrie concluded by noting the wider importance of this kind of sponsorship for the game: “At a time when the FA is looking to improve the rates at which youth players go on to play at a higher level, these kind of sponsorships are invaluable. By allowing teams like us to put money towards facilities, coaching, and training, they help us to encourage younger players to aim for a higher level. Last year, four players from the youth team played for our first team. This partnership should help us to continue to support the guys as they progress through the sport.”
